Kiran Ramchandran is an award winning writer and director. He is a visually driven story-teller and concept developer who possesses the powerful creative abilities, directing experience, and leadership skills to have managed creative projects with a scope of over $15M (feature films). His high-level experience directing every creative department necessary for the execution of large-scale media projects combined with his passionate DIY ethos allows him to bring the same superior level of imagination and creativity to the smallest of projects.

Kiran is a rare breed of creative who can not only concept and develop cutting edge projects and campaigns, but is also in possession of the complete technical artistry needed to bring those ideas to life. With accomplished talents in all areas of digital, film, and TV production—writing, producing, directing, cinematography, still photography, picture editing, sound editing, graphic design and visual effects—Kiran, when necessary, can single handedly deliver projects from conception to creation.

In 2008, Kiran established alleyoop media, a transmedia digital agency producing on-line videos, branded content, webisodes and television projects. Kiran developed an elite creative and technical team with the power to execute standout branded content fueled by his cinematically visual and narrative command of filmmaking. The success of alleyoop media culminated with an offer of purchase from a leading digital ad agency less than three years from the start-up's inception.

In 2011, Kiran went on to Ogilvy & Mather, where he charted a new course for the advertising agency's creative evolution by pioneering long format brand integrated films and videos. Under Kiran's helm, the agency began developing feature length narrative and documentary films as well as television projects in conjunction with Ogilvy Entertainment. Kiran also served as the senior director for broadcast and online commercial spots.

    (2012- Present)

    FREELANCE

    PRODUCER. WRITER. DIRECTOR

    Kiran is currently working freelance as a commercial and branded content creator, producer, and director. He is developing several feature films, and also co-authoring a series of sci-fi/fantasy novels with his wife MeiMei Fox.

    • Currently completing revisions on "The Scrolls," one of his three feature film screenplays optioned by Fox Searchlight.
    • Developing "Vapor," a sci-fi/fantasy trilogy, into novels, screenplays, and feature films.
    • Engaged as freelance branded content and commercial writer, producer, and director.

    PRODUCER. WRITER. DIRECTOR

    Writer, director, and senior creative of all long format commercial spots, and branded messaging through narrative and documentary filmmaking.

    • Responsible for the development of all branded content.
    • Charged with evolving the agency into a complete media and production studio.
    • Part of team collaborating to develop Ogilvy West into a world first position as the premier agency for long format brand messaging and branded entertainment (feature films, documentaries, television).

    Wrote, directed, and produced a concept campaign focused on creating the video content and viral launch for Powerbeats and Beatbox, two premier products in the Beats suite.

    • Responsible for the creation of all creative treatments, story concepts, storyboards, and writing.
    • Produced and directed the video shoots and executed all elements of production, post-production, graphics, and visual effects.

    Created the strategy action plan for Star12, the parent company of National Seminars. Rebranded the digital presence, structure, strategy, and style-guide.

    • Responsibilities included the development of a team of creatives, analysts, designers and developers to create the core brand values and brand identity.
    • Scripted, designed, and directed the execution of brand guidelines to create the brand's "north star," the guiding direction that would establish the course for future growth.
    • Developed brand guidelines for every element of Star12's on-line presence (e.g. product development, internal and external behavior, and total brand experience).

Producer/Director/Writer of the original screenplay: A ghostly thriller based on true events in the Angeles—the nation's largest national forest, with a lurid and fiendish historical legacy.

THE SCROLLS

Writer/Director of the original screenplay: Based on an Indian legend, the story is an exploration of the mysteries of reincarnation following the lives of three characters.

  • Optioned by Fox Searchlight Pictures in 2007.
  • Accepted to the Sundance Institute Producing Program in 2009.
  • Currently in development.

BOLLYWOOD

Co-Writer/Director of the original screenplay: A romantic comedy/fish out of water tale about a down-and-out Hollywood actor who turns his sights to Mumbai and the largest film industry in the world.

Creator/Executive Producer of series based on the original screenplay: An episodic crime drama set in the Angeles National Forest combining elements of a crime drama with the paranormal.
